Wood advertising crate or box with label featuring Native Americans, American Indian. Crate is 19 1/2" tall by 12" by 9", colorful lithograph label is 10 1/2" by 7 1/2", minor paper loss around the edges. Printed by the Schmidt Litho Co., of San Francisco. Circa 1935-45. Label graphics identify product that would have been packed inside, Mt. Konocti Brands Lake County Mountain Bartletts. Stamped on the box is No. 1 Grade. Both sides are printed Mountain Lake County Bartletts. Blue Goose Trademark and logo is also on lower right bottom corner of the label, “ TM reg. owned and its use licensed by Blue Goose Inc.” Box is structurally sound with no damage. See photos. Mt. Konocti brand was originated by family pear farmers who joined together in 1926 as the Lake County Fruit Exchange, an agricultural cooperative. From that day forward, Lake County Fruit Exchange operated as one of the major processor, packer and marketers for Lake County pear farms. The fruit was sorted, packed and shipped nationwide over the next three decades. In 1925, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for BLUE GOOSE by AMERICAN FRUIT GROWERS INCORPORATED. .The company was known for its "Blue Goose" brand; its early citrus was electrically branded with the company name to distinguish it from Sunkist. In the 1930's the American Fruit Growers Association, commonly called Blue Goose, operated out of the Loomis fruit sheds for many years.
