Pretzel advertising tin, Adolph Benzel’s Original Bretzels of Altoona, PA., this food tin is circa 1950, 10” diameter, 11 1/2” tall with riveted side handles on each side, original lift off lid, tin is lithographed yellow body with red script and block lettering. Minor wear, few scratches and shallow crease lines, overall excellent display tin or even storage. Tin has been cleaned and waxed.
Bretzels is the German word for Pretzel. In 1911 Adolph Benzel created Benzel’s Bretzel Bakery in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The bretzel, or pretzels were developed from and old world recipe,and initially were hand shaped . Still in business now for over 100 years. See photos.
