Advertising tin sign for Napoleon 10 cent cigars, framed in wood. Please read the full description. Frame is 20 1/4” by 8”, the actual metal sign is 19” by 7”. The colors and graphics are very good, a few scratches and scrapes, some roughness to the surface, there are a few creases in the tin over on the left side. It has not been cleaned it is in as found condition. There are two original rusted screw holes on the left and right side designed for mounting. It looks good with plenty of patina and I can understand why it was framed. Napoleon Cigars were a product of Powell & Goldstein, one of the largest of many cigars factories in Oneida NY. The cigar company (1870-1921) was founded by John E. Powell and Julius M. Goldstein. Their 60 hand rollers made only two cigars: a 5¢ cigar sold under the name Factory 370 and a popular 10¢ cigar called Napoleon. Although they just made two cigars (like most factories) they were responsible for hundreds of brands. They created custom brands for restaurants, social clubs, hotels, train stations, etc. The same cigar was sold side by side under multiple labels. We also have an unframed sign, see item 10555.
