Rare miniature antique French tavern clock. Please read the full description. This wall Antique clock case is 13” tall, 23/4¾” deep with a mint 3 1/2” diameter porcelain dial, one slight scratch. 100% original and completely restored. Made by Duverdry & Bloquel from Saint Nicolas-d’ Aliermont, France. The clock was imported from France by Harris and Harrington, H & H. Retailed by Spaulding in Chicago, a very high end retail store like Tiffany. The week duration movement is well marked, verifying the above information. There is a great deal of information on this maker that can be found in the book, “Carriage Clocks” pp 439. See photos of this clock hanging next to my full size French Tavern clock. In 40 years of collecting and retailing antique clocks I have never seen another miniature French tavern clock. The original condition of this piece is exceptional. The original French polish finish was cleaned and waxed, there are only a few insignificant dings and scratches. The week duration movement was completely rebuilt and retains the original 7 jewel platform escapement. The clock is strong running and accurate to within a few minutes a week. The Platform is clean with a perfect balance staff, hair spring and ruby jewels. These platform escapements were the one component of the clock that was hand made and assembled. When the platform is replaced due to damage 75% of the Antique value is lost, this is not an opinion but a fact that any certified clock appraiser would verify. Original beveled glass crystal is free of scratches. Clock retains original hinged brass dust cover, hands and porcelain dial. It is difficult to place a value an a clock this rare but considering the shop restoration for the rebuilt original movement, Brass work and case cleaning and polishing is well over $400. How could you possibly go wrong? I am selling several of my personal miniature clocks that I have owned for more than 30 years. See photos.
