Cigar tin, advertising tin La Resta 8 cents cigars, 5 1/4" tall, 4" diameter, original slip top, highly displayable and colorful lithograph, circa 1918-1921. Tin container was made by American Can Co. and is marked AmCanCo 70A 8-18 ( Factory 70, formerly the Illinois Can Co. and year date of manufacture 8-18.) Spanish or Cuban themed tin, the graphics are excellent, the “LA" implied quality. The brand was possibly exclusive for Rothenberg and Schloss Cigar Co., who were one of the largest distributors at the time. The La Resta cigars were made by the San Telmo branch of the Haas Bros. tobacco company. The bottom of the tin is double stamped indicating it is from the period of time when the San Telmo facility was in the process of being sold. Factory information and cigar tax stamps all indicate tin is late teens -- early 20’s. Overall condition of the tin considering it’s age it shows very well, some wear to the lid, spots of paint loss, and some minor scratches. See photos, all sides of the tin are shown. It has been cleaned and waxed. This is part of a large Advertising Cigar and Tobacco collection we just acquired and will be listing soon.
