Brass bucket or pail, Please read the full description, size 8 1/2" tall 13" diameter at the top, 16" with handle extended upright, this is one of the larger pails listed for sale. Spun brass body is "au natural" has many years of aged patina, it has been in use. Damage free, no dings or dents, considering age excellent condition. NO holes. The bottom is marked and shown in pictures. Maker was H. W. Haydens. He patented a design for brass kettles which completely revolutionized the manufacturing of these pots, and in 1851 sold the patent to Waterbury Brass Company. Imprints on the bottom state and date this as "Patent Dec. 16 1851, Extended Reissued May 24, 1870 Manufactured by Waterbury Brass Co. Bottom is domed as it should be, pot was designed so that heat would radiate evenly. These were used as kitchen cooking pots that hung on a cast iron Fire Place Crane over an open fire. They are not Apple Butter Pots. It will sit upright and straight. Rim is rolled, handled is wrought iron with brass eyelets. Beautiful hand forged Pig tail bale.
