Antique tea caddy, please read the full description, 4 1/4" tall by 3 1/2" wide, oval shaped, bottom measures 3 1/2" by 2 1/2", lift off caddy lid is 2 5/8" by 2 1/8", silvered repousse is of a village scene, surrounding the entire body of the tea caddy. Illustrated in high relief are musicians, dancers, shopkeeper in doorway, a group socializing and drinking, and a very charming dog looking on. One small dimple on the underside. NO significant dings or dents, NO damage. Considering it’s age it is in Very excellent to MINT condition. This quality caddy was made by Webster Mfg. Co. See photo of marks; clearly legible are W&S, Star, Fleur-de-lis, and faint Lion mark.
Webster Mfg. Co was formed in Brooklyn New York in 1859. There was a progression of names used during manufacturing. Webster Mfg. Co. 1859 – 1873, E.G. Webster & Bros. 1873 – 1886, E.G. Webster & Son 1886 – 1928.
