Antique glass apothecary jar or bottle. Would have contained Sulphur Precip. , the original label was applied to glass. Original glass stopper. NO damage no cracks, no chips. Nice mold blown glass with imperfections in the glass, normal, expected and acceptable for a bottle pre 1900. Clear glass jar is 6 3/4" tall, 2 1/4"" diameter. Referred to as shop ware, this bottle was used by druggists and drugstores as bulk containers to dispense bulk herbs, powders, liquids, and many other chemical and medicinal products. Shop ware/counter bottles in glass were used by U. S. apothecaries as early as the late 18th century. This is one of several original apothecary jars listed along along with with over 100 antique pharmacy/drugstore items.
