Drugstore or pharmacy advertising original product box and contents, Deane’s Gauze Bandage, cardboard box is 2" by 1 3/4" by 1 1/2", with 10 yards of 2 inch sterilized bandage. The Deane Plaster Company was established in 1883 in Yonkers, N.Y. Deane’s Plaster Co. were Manufacturers of Medicinal and Surgical Plasters, Antiseptic and absorbent dressings. As early as 1904 the company had patents listed for their bandaging products. While there a many blue boxes available this earlier version is harder to find. Reason being in 1939- 40 it was determined that the gauze bandage was not sterile. Cartons and cases of the product were seized and ordered to be destroyed due to micro bacterial contamination. Later in 1949 they were investigated for misbranding charges. See photos all side are shown. Also photo of other bandage products we have for sale.
