Silvered Jewelry Box, vanity, trinket box or keepsake box, repousse cast metal, NO Damage, original condition, 4" by 3", 2 1/2" tall. High relief detailing; flowers, swags, garland, scrolling, beading and two putti or Cherubs on the lid playing musical instruments. Jewelry boxes, frequently covered with cherubs, hearts and roses, were an expression of the Romantic Movement -conferring the message of love. This one is in Excellent condition. Velvet lining is clean and colors are bright. Elevated on four damage free cabriolet legs, top is hinged, no repairs. The silver is bright and clean with no Copper showing through. The heavy cast base metal was originally copper plated then silver plated. This piece has had very little polishing in its life.
