This is a vintage Howard Chandler Christy framed print. The original water color, which is probably in a private collection or museum, was done by Christy in the early 1900s. Print is in good condition with no tears or major staining that I can see. I have not taken the print out of the frame. The darkly stained frame was perfect for this print and is wood with burl veneer. There are cracks in the veneer and some chipping that are age related. Paper backing was replaced and the hang wire. Frame measures 26 1/2 Inches by 21 1/2 inches. The glass area opening is 17 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches. This print hung in my other home for approximately 35 years. I purchased it an estate sale and fell in love with it. Looked fabulous in my Victorian furnished bedroom. Christy , an American illustrator and artist was born in 1873 and passed in 1952. Early in his career, he was known for his war posters that helped raise 7.4 million in bonds for the war effort. After the war, he concentrated on his art with his numerous water colors, oils, illustrations for books, advertising, and became known for his art work of beautiful ladies. They were called Christy girls. Lovely print of a Christy girl for your consideration.
