This is a vintage Watkins deodorant powder tin from the 1950s. This tin was from the Mary King cosmetic line that was first produced in the 1940s. No major denting in the tin. Nice condition with age related wear to painted areas noted. Tin has its cap with the shaker top. The tin measures 4 inches tall by 3 inches across. Working out of his work shed in 1868, J. R. Watkins began making a camphor pain lotion. Sales were done door to door. In 1894, he purchased a building in Winona, Minn. for his expanding business. During WW2, he also produced items such as vitamins, insecticide, soap and dried eggs for the war effort. He continued with his successful business trend that included toiletries, spices, and soaps. Watkins is still in production. This is a lovely tin with its silhouette of a lady on the front.
