This is an antique ceiling hanging light fixture. It was originally an oil lamp, the oil vessel is still intact. At some point, the burner was switched out for an electric light bulb socket, leaving an electrical line that dangles down through the fixture. Personally, I would switch it back to an oil lamp and get rid of that electrical line. The filigree metal frame and hardware of the fixture are all painted a dark green. The shade is blown white milk glass. This fixture is unusual in that there is a heavy decorative weight that hangs from the ceiling above the actual lamp. I do not know what the purpose of the weight is. The light is 14" wide. It is 18" from the top of the shade to the bottom of the hanging fixture. Total drop from the ceiling is adjustable, but about 40" in all. Everything is in excellent condition, undamaged. It was recently removed from an older home in this area where it was in daily use. MBR.
