Here is a vintage Buzkashi whip or riding crop from central Asia. It is leather/rawhide and wood. The handle is 11" tall or long. According to online dictionaries, Buzkashi is an ancient sport similar to polo, where teams of horse back riders compete to deliver a headless animal carcass to a scoring area. It is the national sport of Afghanistan. I have seen Buzkashi spelled several ways, this is the spelling used by Wikipedia and other dictionaries. It literally translates from Persian as "Goat pulling." The whip is generally carried in the riders' teeth. This one is in good to very good condition, there are two small spots where the braided rawhide has worn away, exposing the leather underneath.
