This is a red transferware commemorative plate by Alfred Meakin of England. It is white ironstone. The front has an image of a building and the caption "Indiana Yearly Meeting of Friends Sesqui-centennial 1821-1971." The back reads "Friends Fellowship Community, Inc. A residence for elderly friends and others in Richmond, Indiana. Originally planned in 1835, with a gift from James Moorman, a Friend in Indiana. Yearly meeting construction began on March 1, 1964 and the first resident moved into the community February 1, 1965." It is also marked "Old English Staffordshire Ware Jonroth England Made in Staffordshire England by Alfred Meakin England." The plate is 9 7/8" wide. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
