This is a pair of creamware pottery highly detailed embossed urns done in the Bassano style. The urns have swan neck handles, draped swags with bows and cameos, leaves, pierced reticulated holes around the lid rims, and acorn finials. The embossed marks on the base are "Italy" and a mark of two unicorns or possibly dragons facing a castle tower with the initials LZ underneath. This mark was used by Luigi Zortea from 1920-about 1950. Each urn is 8" wide across the swans and 7 1/2" tall with the lids. They are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are minor flaws in the embossing, it was all hand done. MBR.
