Here is a large Japanese earthenware vase or urn, hand painted with moriage enamel. It is primarily blue with large light blue flowers, green leaves, and moriage accents in burgundy, blue, white, and pink. The vase is 16" tall. It has impressive handles with self rings applied to the vase. The base is marked with a placement indicator. This is not an artist's signature, but an indication of where in a larger grouping this piece should be placed. It seems to read "left" in hand painted gold on the base. The glaze has the fine crackle effect found on Satsuma pieces, and I believe this is a Satsuma vase. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
