Here is an antique Hutschenreuther Bavaria porcelain 8 5/8" plate with a hand painted Arts & Crafts floral design on the rim. The backstamp is blurry and incomplete, but it reads Hutschenreuther Favorite Bavaria Handpainted. There is also an incised mark under the glaze 8101 22. Favorite Bavaria pieces were sold as blanks for decorating in studios, they were imported by the Burley & Tyrell Co of Chicago, IL. Favorite Bavaria was a special mark used by Hutschenreuther for porcelain to be imported into the United States. The hand painting was done both in studios and by amateurs following patterns in the Keramik Studio Magazine. This one has no artist signature or studio mark, but the painting is high quality. This plate dates to the early 1900s, before 1925. It has a heart cutout outline separating panels of purple small flowers. There is narrow gold trim on the rim. The only flaws I see are a tiny nick in the rim and the blurry backstamp.
