Here is an antique Rosenthal Bavaria small scalloped hand painted pin or trinket dish. It is 5 1/2" square and 1 1/2" high. The dish has an elaborately scalloped rim that is hand painted with blue forget me knots and other spots in pink and yellow. The pink and yellow areas are missing some paint, it is not clear if they are supposed to be flowers. The center is painted in a blue wash. This bowl has an unusual shape, it is roughly square and the center is in four lobes like a four leaf clover. The backstamp is green and reads Rosenthal Bavaria. This particular backstamp is a very early Rosenthal mark, it dates to between 1900-1910. The dish is excellent with no chips or cracks. There is narrow gold trim on the rim, the trim is intact. Many Rosenthal pieces of this period were hand painted in the Pickard studios. This painting looks amateur, not professional, and there is no Pickard mark.
