This is a pair of fruit transfer decorated 6 7/8" wide cabinet porcelain plates, marked "Marseille Z. S. & Co. Bavaria" in green on the back. The Marseille name is the name of a blank pattern that can be found with a variety of decorations on it. Z.S. & Co. is for Zeh Scherzer, now known just as Scherzer. The plates were made in the 1890s. They have an embossed and scalloped rim with hand painted gold trim. The fruit designs are different. One features a pear and a peach with strawberries and a blackberry, the other has a segmented orange, purple grapes, and some nuts. Both plates are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
