Here is a 1940's brown glazed redware teapot with hand-decorated moriage and gold designs, interior strainer and lid. It is in very good condition. There is a tiny chip on the rim of the spout, an two small chips on the tab of the lid, but no cracks or crazing noticed, and no apparent wear to the rather lavish gold trim. It is marked Japan on the base. The teapot is 5 3/4" tall with the lid, 7 1/4" tip to handle. The sides are paneled. It comfortable holds 3-3 1/2 cups, it cannot hold 4 cups.
