This is a 1972 reproduction of a Charles Evans Hughes for President push political pin. Charles Evans Hughes was the Republican nominee in 1916. He gave up a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court in order to run for president. He was the last Supreme Court justice to resign in order to run for a political office, and the only justice to return to the court years later. In 1930 he was appointed as the Chief Justice by Herbert Hoover. The pin is slightly under 1" wide. Around the rim it is marked "A-O-1972-12 Hughes 1916." The pin is in excellent condition. MBR.
