This is a tiny teacup and saucer, both marked in blue "France Porcelaine Opaque de Gien" with two castles. They are part of a child's toy tea set in the Red Riding Hood pattern. The cup is 1 1/2" x 1 1/2." The saucer or tiny plate is 2 3/4." The cup shows Red Riding Hood carrying a basket, talking to the wolf, and the words say "Je vais voir gd maman," which translates roughly to "I see your grandmother." The saucer shows Red Riding Hood speaking with a man and the words say "Porte lui velle Galette," which translates roughly to "Take him the cookie/cake." Gien made this blue transferware in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. MBR.
