This is a vintage House of Goebel porcelain teapot made in Staffordshire, England by the Arthur Wood company. The tea pot is rectangular with fluted sides. It measures 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" and the overall length from spout to handle is 10 1/4". The bottom is marked House of Goebel Staffordshire England in brown with an overglaze mark, and is stamped underglaze Arthur Wood. The teapot depicts a red bird with brown wings on a leafy branch front and back, but the picture is larger on the front of the teapot. There are no chips or cracks in this teapot but it is heavily crazed. When I bought this teapot, I had no idea what the bird was, but now I have identified it as a scarlet tanager.
