This is a black transferware souvenir plate featuring Das Dutchman Essenhaus, a popular family restaurant in Amish tourist country of Middlebury, Indiana. I have eaten there, and it was excellent food. The plate is 9 3/8" wide. There is a paper sticker on the back that says "Made in Japan." The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or utensil marks. The restaurant was started in 1971, the plate is probably from the 1970s-80s, since it is marked Made in Japan, not Taiwan or China.
