This is a pair of children's or baby dishes in the World of Beatrix Potter pattern by Royal Doulton. The pattern has been discontinued. The plate is 8" wide and the bowl is 6 3/8" wide. Both feature Jemima Puddleduck. The plate has her with a fox, and the caption printed around the rim says "Jemima was startled to find an elegantly dressed gentleman reading a newspaper 'Madam, have you lost your way?' he enquired. Jemima explained that she was looking for a convenient dry nesting place." The bowl has Jemima with her brood of four ducklings. The caption reads "Jemima laid some more eggs in June, and four of them hatched into baby ducklings." The backstamp on the bowl is the Made in England Royal Doulton England Bone China mark with The World of Beatrix Potter Beatrix Potter C. FW & Co. 1997. The plate backstamp is the same. Both pieces are in excellent condition.
