This is a large white porcelain ginger jar hand painted with green flowers and gold accents. It is 8" tall with the lid or cover. The only marking is a blue and white paper label on the base that reads "Made in Japan." Paper Made in Japan labels first appeared in the 1950s and continued use for some time. I have not been able to learn when they stopped using the labels to mark pieces. The ginger jar and cover are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, and the hand painting is quite lovely.
