This is a pottery plate, a souvenir of the state of Indiana in multicolor transferware. It includes scenes of University of Notre Dame (the basilica), the state bird (Cardinal), the state flower (Zinnia), Santa Claus, Ind., a steel mill in Gary, a wheeler paddleboat on the Ohio River, Purdue University in Lafayette, a Toll Road Gate, the Big Rocky Fork covered bridge, the Indy 500 race track, Wyandotte Caverns, the Lincoln Village in Rockport, the home of James Whitcomb Riley (noted Hoosier poet), Indiana Dunes State Park, and the State Capitol building in Indianapolis. The plate is 9 1/4" wide. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It is not marked or signed.
The Indiana state flower was changed from the zinnia to the peony in 1957, so the plate is no newer than 1957.
