This has to be one of my best finds this year and I would love to keep it but I must be strict with myself! This gorgeous train came to me from a dealer who had purchased it from a private collection. The train was either made for a very opulent Edwardian gown or perhaps would have been a Debutante train. The train is made from the most exquisite silver metallic lace which is bordered with silver lamé fabric and backed with a billowy chiffon. Unusually this train has shoulder straps rather than it being attached to a gown. The shoulder straps are a work of art in themselves, they are covered in tiny beads and rhinestones. I can spot a few missing but this does not detract. The silver metallic lace does have some small areas of tarnishing but again nothing too terrible. The chiffon that lines the train does have some foxing marks to it and a couple of small holes which I am sure this could be replaced if so wished by a skilled seamstress. The train is huge and was incredibly difficult to photograph given that it is 10 feet in length. It is an amazing one off piece that must have been specially commissioned by a wealthy lady. A gorgeous piece, it will be shipped fully tracked and insured.
