This really is one of the most exquisite hats I have had the good fortune to come across. It is made from gold metallic lace with a band of dark pink cross grain ribbon showing through the lace, it is lined with gold Lamé fabric. At the front is a decoration of faux berries, lamé leaves and a wispy decoration that almost feels like a stiffened raffia. At the back of the hat is a decoration of cross grain ribbon and gold metallic lace that hangs down. The hat is very reminiscent of the turban styles that were worn by Natacha Rambova and I feel this dates to around 1918 so pre dates the 1920's. The hat retains its original label inside and I have included this in the pictures. There are a few loose stitches to the gold lamé inside but nothing too terrible and I consider this piece to be in excellent condition. It fits me and my head circumference is 21.5 inches. A gorgeous piece that could be worn with care.
