This is a lovely Victorian bonnet dating to around 1880. It is made from pink silk and lined with silk and lace. The outer of the bonnet is trimmed with silver metallic lace and ribbon work flowers with a paisley boteh to each side. The back of the bonnet is trimmed with lace and a silver applique worked onto net. There are also tiny beads decorating the back of the bonnet. The bonnet does have age related wear and marks, and particularly the silk lining is soiled which I have included photographs of. Some of the silver metallic lace is lifting at the front and there appear to be a row of ribbon work flowers missing on one side. Having said all of that it is still a beautiful piece. I have shown it on my wax lady to give you an idea of how it would look on a human head.
