This is from my own collection and is the most exquisite circa 1920's costume bra. The bra is made from gold lamé fabric and is heavily embroidered with gold bullion work and set with faux jewels and bead work along the net panels. This piece really is the most exquisite work of art and it is my guess that it came from a very elaborate costume made for someone incredibly wealthy. The flappers of the day loved country house parties and would wear the most exquisite costumes. The bra looks very Scheherazade and my guess is it would have been teamed with a pair of Harem pants. The bra does have some age related wear with some holes to the lamé on the shoulders. I have also photographed a piece of the net that just needs a stitch at the back of the bra. There are also a couple of loose threads and one or two of the iridescent beads missing but nothing too terrible. A couple of the faux stones on the shoulders are missing and two are loose. The piece is almost 100 years old so is a rare survivor and I can only imagine the whole costume! A gorgeous piece for display or for a mannequin to wear.
