This is the most gorgeous and stunning original ballet costume that I discovered on my travels. The costume is made from off white satin and decorated with rhinestones on the main bodice. On the sleeves there are crystals decorating the sleeves and also hanging crystals that must have shimmered beautifully in the stage lights. There are lengths of cream raffia hanging from each sleeve. The skirt of the costume is made from a stiffened net with net knickers underneath and decorated with transparent beads. As the piece was designed to be used there is some damage. There are a few rhinestones missing from the bodice and the net sleeves do have some wear and some holes in them. Some of the raffia lengths are missing and the skirt has some damage. I have tried to show all of the damage in the pictures but am limited as to how many photos I can upload to the listing. If you require more please do contact me and I can send some via email. The bodice is boned and the fastenings are still in place to fasten the costume. Inside there is a printed stamp that says 'Oberon 1953' so the costume would have originated from this ballet. A truly beautiful piece for display despite its faults and a lovely piece of history.
