This is a lovely theatrical waistcoat made from Moire Silk and dating to the 1920's. The waistcoat has lilac stripes and bunches of what look to be roses covering the front of it. I have dated this to the 1920's but to me the fabric seems older. I think the waistcoat was made for theatrical or dressing up purposes and could easily be unisex. It has gold coloured buttons and all are intact on both the front and the pockets. The back of the waistcoat is made from a thick cotton with a belt tie to draw in the back. There is some damage to the striped and floral fabric and age related wear and marks. It is a wonderfully shabby item and perfect for display.
