Corsets are becoming very difficult to find so I am always thrilled when I come across some on a buying trip, this time I managed to find two! This one dates to circa 1900 and is a lovely lemon yellow brocade trimmed with lace around the top, I think even the corset ties are original. Due to the age of the corset there is some damage to the fabric that has been patched by a thrifty owner many years ago. There is also areas at the front where the busk shows through although it is still strong enough to be displayed on my mannequin. The lace around the top is intact although the lemon yellow ribbon that would have originally been threaded through has sadly disintegrated over time. The inside of the corset has no makers mark sadly. There is some wear to the inside of the corset which I have shown on the photos. Considering these items were worn as everyday underclothes it always amazes me how they have survived. I would not advise wearing this corset but am selling it as a display piece or for a collection.
