This is a beautiful Georgian silk and embroidered picture circa 1820/30's in the original mount and frame. The picture is of a religious figure, possibly a saint. There are two splits to the silk just to the right of the figure to the background but the embroidery is in very good antique condition and obviously has been stored or displayed away from direct sunlight. The mount is black glass and has a mirrored effect which is very difficult when taking pictures as it reflects everything. The black glass does have a chip out of it which I have shown in the photographs. The gilt wooden frame is original to the picture and does have some damage and marks totally commensurate with age. The back of the picture has an old address on, perhaps an original owner? The hanging loop is insitu although I would advise testing the strength of it before hanging the picture. The picture measures 15 inches by 12.5 inches.
