This is a delightful little Edwardian children's suit. The little suit consists of 3 pieces, a lovely silk brocade jacket with lace cuffs, a green waistcoat and a pair of silk breeches. My guess is that this was made for a very small child but it would be perfect to dress up a bear, a large doll or a child mannequin. I have shown the suit on my 24 inch Steiff bear to give you an idea of what it would look like, it is rather large on him so it would fit a larger doll or bear better. The jacket is made from a silk brocade in an acid yellow with lace at the cuffs. There is a little damage to the lace but the jacket is sound. The little green waistcoat is slightly brighter than shown in the pictures and contrasts beautifully with the acid yellow. It has no buttons and a little foxing to the fabric but nothing too terrible. The silk acid yellow breeches feel like they are made from an earlier fabric and they have two paste buckles at the knees, some of the rhinestones are missing but they are still delightful. Please note that my darling Steiff Soloman is not included in the sale he is just for modelling purposes.
