Here we have a true Museum piece from our collection. This doll was published and distributed by one of the oldest German magazines called “Bestellmeier”. They were famous for the early early wooden, paper mache and optical toys. The toys from the that period and that they are printed in this catalog are extremely rare to find.
The doll it self was completely sculptured of wood and made in Oberammergau, jointed head on corset shaped torso, articulated arms and legs, shoe shaped feet. Very fine sculptured features like ears, hands, the back side, and shoes.
Oberammergau, Germany ca. 1780-1800.
Note: chair is not included in this sale!
Condition: generally good for the age, a few fingers are damaged (see pictures) and lower leg with shaped shoe has been professionally replaced/restored.
Measurement: 15 3/4” inch (40cm)
Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or if you need more pictures
Best wishes
Albert
