A superb and unusual Art Deco wall mirror from the second quarter of the 20th century, it is a piece intended primarily for placement over the fireplace mantel. The stylized trumpet form of the frame is a symmetrical design that swells from a fluted band at the very center of the mirror to be bold and oversized at the top. The use of faceting along the upper portion of the trumpet gives it a touch of mechanical modernity, softened somewhat in the lower body where long lines of relief flow along the more rounded frame profile into the carved relief floral motifs. This is an uncommon and very attractive piece that melds the modern and the traditional beautifully.
