A handsome post-humous cast of the stallion Ibrahim after the model by Pierre Jules Mene, the present example is a very fine casting of this model. The foundry work is simply exquisite, much of the detail being worked into this scene by the foundry with painstaking effort - note the chiseling of the tail and mane, both of which have crisp tooling and chasing throughout which distinguish each lock of hair from the next. Further, the mane lifts slowly away from the body, an exceedingly difficult detail to achieve in the model effectively. Veins running throughout his face, along his belly and the length of his legs are well developed. His rests over the naturalistic base, the edge of which is cold-stamped crisply IBRAHIM; it is signed P.J. Mene.
