BENCHMADE PENNSYLVANIA PAINTED PINE TRESTLE TABLE, Circa 20th Century
Item # 603DEX10P
This handcrafted trestle table is a clean and simple design, the entire table breaking down for easy movement and storage. Each x-form leg separates into two pieces, the single stretcher joining through these with a long tenon that projects through either side, locked in place with a large removable wedge. The top affixes to the legs with four tapered pegs that drive through the battens into the legs. The battens join the table top with dovetails, these having already served their primary purpose in allowing the table top to expand/contract without splitting the wide pine planks; some shrinkage has already occurred and left the table top in beautiful intact condition. It is a most striking bench made table, a perfect compliment for the home decorated in the Colonial taste.
Measurements: 29 1/2” H x 73” W x 34 7/8” D
Condition Report: Top is naturally and very attractively worn, a small drilled hole in the top, numerous scratches. Top has shrunk slightly, the dovetailed battens projecting just slightly from each side. Overall excellent vintage condition.
