Charming circa 1920s or 30s pierced cast iron plaque with painted brown patina. It shows a happy family on a stroll complete with frolicking dog. The mother carries a picnic basket and a bouquet of just picked flowers while restraining their young son. The father carries the youngest on his back. Probably of German or Austrian origin and signed MOLL in the bottom border. I think that this might be an architectural piece due to its see-through nature and the lack of any obvious means of hanging or mounting it. It may have been designed to fit in a window frame, screen, etc. In fine untouched original condition. It measures approx 11.5" square.
There's an important German sculptor of this period named Marg Moll but her work is mostly abstract, not representational like this piece.
