Unusual large size perfume tray dates to the 1920s or 30s and is in immaculate condition. This tray has an ornate stamped brass frame raised on lion's paw feet at all 4 corners. At the center of the back there is a brass oval frame supported by very ornate fan shaped supports with a hand painted porcelain plaque with a courting couple, double framed under glass with a mat of hand painted velvet. The main plateau also has an ornate inner brass frame under the glass cover with more hand painted velvet comprising the ground. The bottom (underneath) is also covered in velvet and in fine condition. Quite unusual and was probably quite dear when originally offered 80+ years ago. The remarkable thing is that it is all original without repairs or damage: no stains to the velvet under the glass, the colors of the painted decoration have mellowed a bit with age I imagine, but they're still quite vibrant. I wasn't able to find any markings but wouldn't be surprised if this item was made in France - the quality is there. A great way to display your perfumes and in incredible condition. It measures 16" wide by 10" deep, the plateau is 1 1/4" high and it's 4" high including the frame at the back.
