Translation of the text on the poster: "Pippermint ; Get Brothers of Revel (Haute Garonne (A French region)) at all cafes, wine dealers, groceries" Fine condition and beautifully framed with COA & info sheets from the Merrill Chase Galleries (now long gone), & matted so as to show the embossed seal of Les Maitres de L'Affiche. Les Maitres de l'Affiche (The Masters of the Poster) is one of the most prestigious and influential art publications in history. 256 color lithographic plates were issued as separate numbered sheets measuring 11 1/4" x 15 1/2" every month for 60 consecutive months from December 1895 through November 1900. The collection, reproduced from the original works of ninety-seven artists was compiled by master poster artist Jules Cheret and included important poster artists such as Cheret, Mucha, Toulouse-Latrec, Parrish, Rhead, Grasset, Bonnard, etc.
This print dates to 1899 and is housed in a 22 1/2" by 18 3/4" black trimmed gilt wood frame from Merrill Chase Galleries. In beautiful apparently mint condition with minor wear to the frame. Not opened or examined out of the frame.
