Charming 1920s porcelain figure of "Sweet Nell" made by Tuscan China. She stands 9 1/2" tall and the base is 6 1/2" by 4 1/2". Beautifully decorated using a wide range of techniques: her face is hand painted, there are raised hand enameled flower petals on her hat & dress and her dress, shawl and apron have added gilt transfers, while the base of cobblestones is entirely hand painted. There was quite a bit of time and effort by the pottery to produce this fine figure and the result is impressive. Founded in 1878 in Staffordshire, England by R. H. Plant, their bone-china was known as 'Tuscan' until 1967 after which they were taken over by new parent company, Wedgwood who added the ‘Royal’ prefix. The mark shown on this piece was used in the 1920s & early 1930s. There's also a fragment of a paper label still present. Condition is mint. No repairs or damage.
