Frequently described as Palais Royale wares as they were originally sold at that location in Paris in the 19th century is this large Mother of Pearl figural 'egg' jewelry casket in the form of a pram. This beauty features an unusually large shell body of incredible iridescence mounted on a gilt metal frame with woven wires in the form of a baby buggy. Probably intended as a gift for a new mother, this piece dates to the mid 19th century. It is larger than most of the 'egg' caskets with a very large & lustrous shell. Overall size is 8" wide by 6 1/4" high by 3 3/4" deep. Other than the expected age darkening of the metal, it is in fine original condition free of damage or repairs.
