Collectors-Row
is now SALE PENDINGHere's a nice 19th century English relief molded (or moulded)jug in grey clay with a raised design of strawberries and leaves. Stands approx 8" tall. Unmarked. Mint condition. Minor original molding & glaze imperfections as are typically found on these early jugs, but nothing that draws the eye. Made by a huge number of makers, relief molded jugs were produced of fine bodied stoneware from 1820 until late in the 19th century. The same designs might be made by several different potteries as molds were sold and traded so attribution to a single maker is impossible unless the jug is marked. This jug most likely dates to the middle of the century. A nice jug with a pleasing design in an uncommon color.
