This listing is for a VERY RARE example of Early American Glass. This has been in our private collection for 45 years. You are looking at a Glass Bellows. It was made by the Boston Sandwich Glass Factory. IT IS THE LARGEST SIZE THEY MADE AT 11".
It was made with red threaded glass. This bellows is characteristic of the threaded flint glass by the Boston Sandwich Glass Co. during the 1880's. This design is attributed to Nicholas Lutz who came to Sandwich from France in 1870 and worked at yhe Sandwich Glass factory until 1888. This form is well documented and represented in the Sandwich Glass Museum / Nicholas Lutz Collection. The threading is beautifully done with cranberry glass in thin spiral strands. MUSEUM QUALITY.
This work of art is in excellent condition. There are a few pin pricks here are there. Glass is clear. Any white in the photos is from my camera flash.
