We are pleased to offer for sale this gorgeous example of early period cut glass. The pattern is rare cut with grouped pontils. This bowl was made by the T.G. Hawkes Company. They began in 1880. They were located in Corning, NY.. It is signed in the center. I put a sticker over the signature. If you are my age you will need a bright light to see it.. It dates c.1915. It would be perfect on any table filled with fruit or salad.
MANY COMPANIES COPIED THE SAME PATTERNS THEN GAVE THEM A DIFFERENT NAME. THIS MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TRULY IDENTIFY THE MAKER. IT IS A BLESSING WHEN YOU CAN FIND ONE THAT IS ACTUALLY SIGNED.
Cut Glass / Crystal. RARE PONTIL PATTERN.
Hand blown, wheel cut, hand polished.
Measures 7" 3/4"wide and 3 3/4" deep. Weighs 3 lbs. 4 oz.
It is in wonderful antique condition. This is something you will add to your collection as an exceptional example of high quality glass. Glass is a clear. Any white in the photos is from my camera flash. Remember this is an antique that was used. There is a very shallow "slice" out on the side rim, see photo. Please examine the photos very carefully to add to my description. Ask all needed questions before purchase.
PHOTOS DO NOT DO JUSTICE TO ITS BEAUTY.
