This listing is for a PAIR of beautiful American works of art. This is for TWO hand cut paper silhouette portraits. They date from the Victorian Period circa 1830's. One is of Benjamin Franklin, one of our Founding Fathers, who lived from 1706-1790. The other one is of John Quincy Adams who was the 6th President of the United States. His father, John Adams, was our second President. Both silhouettes have been inscribed with their names on the back.
Both are hollow cut bust length portraits. The background buff-colored paper shows some expected light age tone. They appear to come with their original oval molded black wooden frame with a thin plaster layer and a gold insert with their original glass. Frames are strong and ready to hang. Frames show paint wear appropriate to their age. They have not been retouched-painted for resale - all original.
The one of Benjamin Franklin appears to have been signed by the artist. It is at the lower tip of his jacket. It looks like an initial.
Each frame measures approx. 5" x 4". The silhouettes themselves measure approx. 2 1/2" x 1 1/2".
They silhouettes themselves are in excellent antique condition especially for paper this age. Any white in the photos is from my camera flash. Please examine the photos very carefully to add to the description. Ask all needed questions before purchase.
THE PRICE IS FOR BOTH.
